Surface Seal Work Set to Begin on SE 2nd Street

Update: The contractor working on SE 2nd Street had an equipment failure earlier today, Tuesday, Nov. 1, and stopped work; however, work is tentatively expected to take place again from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. tomorrow, Wed., Nov. 2. In order to complete surface sealing along SE 2nd Street at intersections, there will be short-term closures of Jefferson, Market, SE Main, Douglas and Green crossing SE 2nd Street. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained along SE 2nd Street; however, traffic will not be able access the side streets from SE 2nd Street while intersection surface sealing is being completed.

Re-striping of SE 2nd Street is expected to take place under traffic next week, weather permitting.

The most recent schedule for surface seal indicates work could begin on SE 2nd Street between Route 291 and SW Jefferson Street on Thurs., Oct. 27, or Fri., Oct. 28, depending on weather. This work is expected to take 3-5 days which means it will likely continue into the following week.

Surface sealing will take place under traffic, and access will be maintained for business and property owners at all times; however, delays are expected.
