City Accepting Applications for Community Development Block Grants for COVID-19 Relief

The City of Lee’s Summit will begin accepting applications from qualified agencies on Feb. 15 for a special allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for activities benefiting low-and-moderate income individuals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, the City will receive an additional $352,711 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Applications will be available on the City’s website, cityofLS.net/development. Qualified agencies must show a direct increase in service need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and verify no other state or federal funding is available to meet those needs. Qualifying needs include rental relief, mental health efforts and testing/vaccine partnerships. All proposals must comply with applicable requirements and regulations.

Qualified agencies include public agencies and nonprofit organizations. For-profit organizations may also be eligible for consideration if the proposed programs or projects serve a public purpose. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

Applications will remain open until all funding has been exhausted. Applications should be submitted to cdbg@cityofLS.net. For questions about the application and/or eligibility requirements, please contact Development Services at 969-1200 or email Sarah.Tilbury@cityofLS.net.
