City of Lee’s Summit Hosting KC2026 Countdown Clock

The City of Lee’s Summit is proudly hosting one of two KC2026 FIFA World Cup 26™ Countdown Clocks in the center of Green Street, the City’s new outdoor destination located in the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit. The custom-designed, illuminated clock features Kansas City’s unique Host City branding and joins an identical clock in Overland Park, Kansas, counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until midnight, June 11, 2026, the day the FIFA World Cup 26™ kicks off in Mexico City. The clock will be on display at Green Street through mid-November.

The heart-shaped clock is made of aluminum and steel and stands approximately 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide. The Countdown Clock will be a powerful reminder that the world’s biggest sporting competition will hold six matches in Kansas City beginning June 16, 2026.

City Places Public Safety Sales Tax on April 5 Ballot

On April 5, Lee's Summit voters will be asked to consider a half-cent public safety sales tax solely for the purpose of providing support for law enforcement, fire protection, emergency response and other public safety services. If approved, the City’s current sales tax rate would increase from 2.25% to 2.75%, and the total sales tax rate would increase from 7.85% to 8.35%.
