City of Lee’s Summit Places Use Tax on April 7 Ballot
On April 7, Lee’s Summit voters will have an opportunity to consider a local use tax, which would increase funding for essential City services such as street maintenance, public safety, code enforcement and parks maintenance. A use tax would be placed on goods purchased from out-of-state vendors who are currently not paying local sales tax. The use tax would be applied at the same rate as the City’s sales tax, which is 2.25 percent.

City of Lee’s Summit Hosts Blood Drive March 2
The City of Lee’s Summit, in partnership with the Community Blood Center, is hosting a blood drive on March 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Howard Conference Room at City Hall, 220 SE Green St.
The Community Blood Center needs nearly 600 donors each day just to meet the needs of hospitals in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Due to the limited shelf life of donations, there is a demand for donations year-round to help save lives.
