Mayor Baird has officially designated July as "Parks and Recreation Month" in the City of Lee's Summit through a formal proclamation. This declaration highlights the vital role that parks and recreation play in enhancing community well-being and encourages all residents to engage in related events and activities throughout the month.

Joe Snook, LSPR Administrator, states, “I encourage everybody to share in the recognition of Parks and Recreation month by visiting your favorite park, walking on a local trail, or participating in one of our hundreds of programs and special events.”

LSPR is celebrating by inviting our community to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them. There are plenty of ways you can celebrate with us, as well! NRPA and LSPR encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to post why their local park and recreation agency is important to them on social media with the hashtag #BuildTogetherPlayTogether.
