Intersection of Southwest Third and Jefferson Streets Set to Close Monday, February 24

The intersection of Southwest Third and Jefferson streets is set to close on Monday, February 24, and will remain closed until approximately early April. The closure is necessary for water main work and intersection improvements. Detour routes include Southwest Blue Parkway, Southwest Second Street, Southwest Market Street, and Southwest Fourth Street. Local access only is available west and east of the closure on Southwest Third Street, and to the north and south of the closure on Southwest Jefferson Street.

The intersection closure marks the official start of the Third Street Improvements project from Southwest Blue Parkway to Southwest Jefferson Streets. Utility work along the Southwest Third Street corridor is expected to continue during the intersection work. Upon completion of the intersection work, construction will begin along the section of Southwest Third Street between Southwest Blue Parkway and Southwest Jefferson Street. The project is expected to be complete in November 2025.

The Third Street Improvements project includes paving, sidewalk, trail, curb and stormwater work, street lighting, access management, and streetscape elements along Southwest Third Street similar to those within the downtown central business district.
