Lee’s Summit Announces New Visitors Bureau Executive Director

The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce the selection of Cori Day as the executive director of the newly formed Lee’s Summit Visitors Bureau. Day begins her position on Jan. 6 where she will develop and manage the City’s newly created destination marketing/management organization.

With over 22 years of experience in the tourism industry, Day brings expertise in strategic planning, sales and marketing, and destination development. Day has spent the last six years as director of sales for Worlds of Fun and executive director of the Missouri Travel Alliance. During her career Day has worked in roles to increase tourism activities for municipalities, including sales manager for the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, director of tourism for the City of Independence and vice president of sales and services for Visit KC. Day holds a degree in secondary social studies education from the University of Missouri.

“We are delighted to welcome Cori to Lee’s Summit,” said DMO Board Chair Jeanine Thill. “Cori’s extensive experience in destination marketing and her focus on building strong partnerships with local stakeholders, businesses and residents is vital as we shape the future of tourism in Lee’s Summit. We are confident that under her leadership, the Visitors Bureau will be well positioned to attract quality tourism to Lee’s Summit, enhancing its economic vitality and ensuring Lee’s Summit remains a welcoming place for both visitors and residents.”

The Lee’s Summit Visitors Bureau will work to attract tourists, visitors, individuals, groups, meetings, trade shows, exhibits, expositions and special events to the City through marketing, publications and other promotional efforts. The bureau aims to promote Lee’s Summit’s distinctive resources and increase tourism’s economic impact.
