Public Invited to Southeast Douglas Street Improvements Public Meeting

The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed design and infrastructure improvements to the Southeast Douglas Street corridor from Blue Parkway to Fourth Street from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the Strother Conference Room at City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063.

The meeting is an open house-style format and there will be no formal presentation, allowing those interested to come and go as schedules allow. This meeting will be attended by City staff and representatives from the project’s engineering design consultant Wilson & Company. Project exhibits will be available for public inspection at the meeting and online at https://cityofls.net/douglas-project. Comments will also be accepted online from July 10-24, and will be made a part of the public meeting record for the project.

Proposed project improvements include: roadway reconstruction with curb and gutter; share the road bicycle facilities; on street parking (one side); continuous sidewalks along each side of the roadway; continuous street lighting; new enclosed storm drainage system; new waterline infrastructure; and associated utility relocations. This transportation project was approved by voters with the passage of the Aprill 2023 no-tax-increase general obligation bond questions to fund critical improvements to Lee’s Summit’s infrastructure and quality of life.
