Successful Family Fun Night at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation’s Summit Waves

Successful Family Fun Night at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation’s Summit Waves

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. —Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is happy to report another successful Family Fun Night at Summit Waves, where families came together to enjoy a fun and welcoming evening.

Following the event, an altercation occurred between two individuals in the Summit Waves parking lot. LSPD responded to the scene. No weapons were involved or located in connection with that incident, and at this time, no injuries have been reported.

Earlier in the evening, during daily operations at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, staff received a report of a possible weapon inside a bag. Private security hired by Summit Waves immediately responded, secured the bag, and located a weapon. A juvenile associated with the bag was apprehended outside Summit Waves, and the matter has been referred to Family Court.

We are grateful for the cooperation of our guests, the attentiveness of our staff and contracted security team, and the support of the Lee’s Summit Police Department. The safety systems and procedures in place worked as intended and allowed staff to respond quickly and appropriately when concerns arose.

LSPR proudly hosts community-focused events like Family Fun Night. We applaud our Parks and Recreation employees, security personnel, and law enforcement partners for their professionalism and commitment to keeping our facilities and patrons safe.

LSPR remains committed to creating fun, safe, and welcoming experiences for everyone who visits our parks and facilities.
