Southwest Sampson Road Bridge Replacement Set to Begin Wednesday, May 14

Southwest Sampson Road Bridge Replacement Set to Begin Wednesday, May 14

Update 10/21/25: Southwest Sampson Road is now open.
Bridge replacement over Mouse Creek on Southwest Sampson Road between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads is set to begin on Wednesday, May 14, and will last until approximately mid-October 2025. Southwest Sampson Road between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads will remain closed to thru traffic during this phase two work as part of the Sampson Road Stormwater Improvements project. The detour route includes Southwest Scherer Road, Southwest Ward Road, and Southwest Hook Road. All schedules are weather permitting and subject to change.

Southwest Sampson Road between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads originally closed to thru traffic on March 19. Phase one culvert work took place just south of Southwest Scherer Road. With the completion of this culvert work, Southwest Sampson Road will be open to local traffic on either side of the bridge.

The Sampson Road Stormwater Improvements project will construct a bridge to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, restore and stabilize the natural stream channel, open the floodway to reduce backwater flooding upstream, install stormwater best management practices (BMPs),  and construct a Mouse Creek Trail crossing for the Parks Department to support the Greenway Master Plan.
