City Invites Public Input on Airport Master and Business Plans

The City of Lee’s Summit is inviting the public to provide input on the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport’s new Master Plan and Business Plan. These plans are being initiated together to leverage synergies between the two processes. The Master Plan and Business Plan will define the airport’s goals and objectives and establish a strategy to guide airport development for the next 20 years.

The Master Plan and Business Plan will assess the current infrastructure; forecast demand and facility requirements; identify areas for future development; and provide recommendations and an implementation plan. The City has contracted with the engineering firm Crawford, Murphy and Tilly to develop the Master Plan and Business Plan.

Community input is a vital part of the planning process. The public is invited to provide feedback throughout the process at LSairport.net. Report documents will be uploaded to the City’s website as they are approved. There is also an open house tentatively scheduled to take place in September to review demand projections and facility requirements. The recommended Master Plan and Business Plan are scheduled to be presented to City Council in December.

The City has received grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration and Missouri Department of Transportation to cover 90 percent of the cost to prepare the updated Master Plan and Business Plan. The City has funded the 10 percent match required for both grants.

For more information about the Airport Master Plan and Business Plan, email publicworks@cityofLS.net or call 969-1800.
