Lee’s Summit Community Development Block Grant Application Period Begins Jan. 1, 2025
The City of Lee’s Summit will accept applications from qualified agencies for 2025-26 Community Development Block Grant funding from Jan. 1 – Feb. 3, 2025. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awards federal grant funds to the City annually. These funds must be used to meet the needs of low- to moderate-income individuals and families, address slum or blight in Lee's Summit and/or meet an urgent need.
Lee's Summit is designated as an Entitlement Community under the CDBG program by HUD, which gives the City the authority to administer the grant funds within the community. The City was awarded $342,628 for the 2024-25 program year. CDBG funding for the 2025-26 program year which begins on July 1, 2025, and concludes on June 30, 2026, has yet to be announced by HUD.
Public agencies or nonprofit organizations may apply for grants to support eligible programs and projects. For-profit entities may also be eligible for consideration if the proposed programs or projects serve a public purpose and meet the national objectives and the City’s CDBG Consolidated Plan objectives. Individuals are not eligible to apply.
Applicants will present proposals and funding requests to the City Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee at a public hearing in March 2025. At that time, the public can provide input before the committee recommends a funding allocation plan to the City Council for adoption.
