NW Ashurst Drive Connection Set to Open and NW Edgewood Drive Set to Close

NW Chipman Road Improvements Project Traffic Changes Set for Sept. 5

Construction on the NW Chipman Road Improvements project is progressing and the new connection of NW Ashurst Drive to View High Drive is set to open on Tuesday, Sept. 5. After NW Ashurst Drive opens, NW Edgewood Drive will close until December 2023. Traffic typically using NW Edgewood Drive to NW Chipman Road will detour on NW Ashurst Drive to View High Drive.

Also on Sept. 5, the extended closure area will be expanded to include the section of NW Chipman Road from east of Cedar Creek Lane to west of the one-lane railroad bridge at the Rock Island Trail. Local access will be maintained at all times. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.

The section of NW Chipman Road between View High Drive and NW Bent Tree Drive, previously closed to through traffic on July 31, will remain closed to through traffic until the completion of the project in spring 2025. The City of Lee’s Summit has established an inclement winter weather route through the Clarkson Construction property north of Northwest Quarry Park Road.  Due to the forecasted snow Saturday, City’s crews will open the inclement winter weather route through the Clarkson Construction property and close the access to Noland Road Friday 1/23/26. City Crews Preparing for Winter Storm this Weekend

The City’s crews pre-treated streets with salt during the day today, Thursday, Jan. 22, and will continue pre-treating streets during the day tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 23, ahead of a significant winter storm forecast for this weekend. A section of Northeast Ball Drive just south of Northeast Colbern Road was closed for the day on Saturday, Jan. 17, and then extended until Friday, January 30. The detour route includes Northeast Rice Road, Northeast Mulberry Street, Northeast Todd George Parkway, and Northeast Colbern Road. A contractor will be doing utility work at this location.

A section of Southeast Fifth Street between Southeast Onyx Drive and Southeast Battery Drive is set to close Friday, January 16, at approximately 9 a.m. and will remain closed until the end of February. The detour route includes Southeast Onyx Drive, Southeast Third Street, and Southeast Battery Drive.
