Procession for Captain Gene Martin

Captain Gene Martin's funeral service on June 20, 2024, will be followed by a procession to the cemetery between 12 PM and 1:30 PM. Below is a map link and directions to the cemetery that will pass by Lee's Summit Fire Station No.5 and Fire Headquarters. Anyone wishing to pay respects along the road is encouraged to do so along SE Douglas Street, but please do not park on the procession route.

The procession route is as follows: From Holy Spirit Catholic Church east to the M-291 Highway, north to SW Blue Parkway, east on SW Blue Parkway to SE Douglas Street, north on SE Douglas Street to SE 2nd Street, east on SE 2nd Street to M-291 Highway, south on M-291 Highway to US 50 Highway, east on US 50 Highway to Blackwell Parkway, south on Blackwell Parkway to SE Oldham Parkway, east on Oldham Parkway to Floral Hills East Gardens Cemetery.

The sun should help with some melting today; however, extremely cold temperatures continue to limit the effectiveness of salt and snow remains packed to pavements even after being plowed and treated. Sunshine and warmer temperatures over the weekend will help with additional melting.

Crews completed primary streets, are finishing up secondary streets, and will be moving into residential streets later this morning. Extremely cold temperatures are limiting the effectiveness of salt treatments, and streets will remain packed with snow even after being plowed and treated.

Public Invited to Comment on Ward Road Improvements from O’Brien to Chipman Roads

The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting a public meeting from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Strother Conference Room at City Hall, 220 SE Green St. Lee’s Summit, Mo., to discuss infrastructure improvements for the Ward Road corridor from O’Brien to Chipman roads. The meeting will allow the public to view preliminary plans and exhibits, review tentative schedules for right-of-way acquisition and construction, and provide feedback.
