Preparations began this week for curb replacement on a section of NW Chipman Road from U.S. Route 50 to the railroad bridge just east of NW Donovan Road. Curb removal is expected to start on Mon., Nov. 7, with pours and restoration to follow as well as sidewalk ramp replacement in several locations. The work is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting. While there will be lane closures during this work, both eastbound and westbound NW Chipman Road will be open to through traffic; however, some delays can be expected. The City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Public Works Department in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the City of Lee’s Summit’s intent to revise the flood hazard information, generally located upstream and downstream of SW Ward Road along Cedar Creek. The flood hazard revisions are being proposed as part of Letter of Map Revision (LOMR, Case No. 22-07-0797P) for a completed construction project along Cedar Creek. The City of Lee’s Summit has constructed improvements that replaced the culverts at the stream’s crossing with SW Ward Road. Specifically, the floodway shall be revised from a point approximately 1,000 feet downstream of SW Ward Road to a point approximately 1,500 feet upstream of SW Ward Road along Cedar Creek. Update: The contractor working on SE 2nd Street had an equipment failure earlier today, Tuesday, Nov. 1, and stopped work; however, work is tentatively expected to take place again from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. tomorrow, Wed., Nov. 2. In order to complete surface sealing along SE 2nd Street at intersections, there will be short-term closures of Jefferson, Market, SE Main, Douglas and Green crossing SE 2nd Street. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained along SE 2nd Street; however, traffic will not be able access the side streets from SE 2nd Street while intersection surface sealing is being completed. Re-striping of SE 2nd Street is expected to take place under traffic next week, weather permitting. Update: Phase two of the SW 3rd Street utility work is now expected to start on Mon., Oct. 17, with the closure of both eastbound and westbound through traffic on SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street. The section of SW Jefferson Street from SW 3rd Street to SW 2nd Street is expected to be back open by noon on Mon., Oct. 17. During phase one of the utility work on SW 3rd Street which started today, a section of SW Jefferson Street from SW 3rd Street to SW 2nd Street is also closed to through traffic due to work in the SW 3rd and SW Jefferson streets intersection. This closure is expected to last for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Westbound SW 3rd Street traffic should detour north on SW Market Street to SW 2nd Street, or south on SW Jefferson Street to SW Blue Parkway. Update 2/28/23: Both eastbound and westbound lanes of SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street are now open to through traffic. Utility work continues primarily in the center/middle lane as the crew is still proofing the pipe and pulling cables through the duct bank. This work is anticipated to be complete in two weeks, weather permitting. A section of SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street is set to close to through traffic beginning Mon., Oct. 10, 2022, through February 2023. Eastbound SW 3rd Street traffic will be detoured to SW Blue Parkway and westbound SW 3rd Street traffic will be detoured to SW 2nd Street.
