Public Hearing for M291 North Interchange at US 50 Highway Improvements Project Set for Oct. 3

Online Public Hearing Also Offered Oct. 3 Through Oct. 17

The City of Lee’s Summit, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), will host an in-person public hearing to discuss the design for the M291 North Interchange at US 50 Highway Improvements Project on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 220 SE Green Street in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The public will have an opportunity to view project plans and exhibits and provide feedback. There will be no formal presentation and the hearing will be open house style; the public can come and go as schedules allow. Project plans and exhibits prepared by the City of Lee’s Summit, MoDOT and the design consultant Olsson will be available to view, and attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the project and offer comments.

Colbern Road Safety Improvement Work Begins September 5

The City of Lee’s Summit announced that work on the Colbern Road Improvements Project begins Sept. 5. The project will improve the safety and flow of traffic on Northwest Colbern Road between Northeast Douglas Street and Missouri Route 350 and will require that section of road to be closed to through traffic until spring 2025.   The first phase of construction will require a complete closure of Northwest Colbern Road from approximately Missouri Route 350 through the roundabout at Northwest Blue Parkway. This phase includes the reconstruction of the roundabout and realignment of Northwest Blue Parkway from the roundabout to the frontage road along Unity Village. This closure will continue through spring 2024, weather permitting. Detours will be put in place and signage will mark the detour route. NW Chipman Road Improvements Project Traffic Changes Set for Sept. 5

NW Ashurst Drive Connection Set to Open and NW Edgewood Drive Set to Close

Construction on the NW Chipman Road Improvements project is progressing and the new connection of NW Ashurst Drive to View High Drive is set to open on Tuesday, Sept. 5. After NW Ashurst Drive opens, NW Edgewood Drive will close until December 2023. Traffic typically using NW Edgewood Drive to NW Chipman Road will detour on NW Ashurst Drive to View High Drive.

Sections of NW Colbern Road and NW Blue Parkway Set to Close Sept. 5

A section of NW Colbern Road from approximately Missouri Route 350 to NE Douglas Street is set to close to through traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will remain closed until spring 2025, weather permitting. NW Blue Parkway from Interstate 470 to the roundabout at NW Colbern Road is also set to close to through traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will remain closed until spring 2024, weather permitting. The closures are necessary for construction as part of the Colbern Road Improvements project.

Section of Chipman Road Set to Close to Through Traffic Beginning July 31

Closure to Remain in Place Through Completion of Project in Spring 2025

The Chipman Road Improvements project is underway and a section of Northwest Chipman Road between View High Drive and Northwest Bent Tree Drive is set to close to through traffic beginning Monday, July 31, and will remain closed until completion of the project in approximately spring 2025. The detour route is Northwest Pryor Road, Southwest Third Street, and View High Drive.

Moving closures for clearing operations will take place for approximately three weeks, and then an extended closure will begin in the middle of the project from east of Northwest Edgewood Drive to just west of the one lane railroad bridge at the Rock Island Trail. Local access will be maintained at all times. During this time the connection of Northwest Ashurst Drive to View High Drive will also be completed. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
