Update: As of 12/21/23, 3rd Street is now open to through traffic. Construction work will be be ongoing over the next several months that will require the contractor to have a single lane drop on westbound 3^rd Street (just east of Murray) during working hours, but a minimum of one lane of traffic will be kept open at all times.  No further complete closures are anticipated.

A section of SW 3^rd Street from SW Pryor Road to SW Ward Road is set to close to through traffic on Mon., Nov. 27, and will remain closed for approximately thirty days, weather permitting. A hard closure of SW 3^rd Street will be located just east of SW Murray Road. The closure is necessary for sanitary sewer work under SW 3^rd Street as part of the McClendon Ditch improvements project.

The City of Lee’s Summit is holding a snow dry run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 2023-2024 winter weather season. City crews are testing equipment and software, and driving snow routes with plows and salt spreaders installed on trucks. The purpose of the dry run is to ensure all equipment and software are working properly and that drivers are familiar with snow routes, which is critical to the City’s snow and ice control operations. The annual snow dry run was scheduled in advance and is not in response to any forecast. Crews are also testing turn-by-turn routing. Snow plow drivers have touchscreen tablets in their trucks to guide them through their assigned routes. This technology routes trucks more efficiently and reduces the chance of missed streets.  

The City of Lee’s Summit will host an in-person public hearing to discuss the design for the Ward and Persels Intersection Improvements project from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Pleasant Lea Middle School, located at 630 SW Persels Road in Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64081. The public will have an opportunity to view project plans and exhibits and provide feedback. There will be no formal presentation and the hearing will be open house style; the public can come and go as schedules allow. Project plans and exhibits prepared by the City’s design consultant Garver USA will be available to view, and attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the project and offer comments.

Portions of the NW Chipman and NW Pryor roads intersection are set to close nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 2, and will take place for approximately two to three weeks, weather permitting. Traffic should follow the posted detour which includes NW Pryor Road, NW Lowenstein Drive, NW Black Twig Lane, and NW Chipman Road. During the day, the entire intersection will be open to traffic and all excavations will be plated and wedged with asphalt.

 

A section of SW Murray Road from SW 3rd Street to SW Longview Road is set to close to through traffic on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and will remain closed for approximately thirty days, weather permitting. There will be a hard closure of SW Murray Road from SW 3rd Street to SW 5th Street. The detour route for this closure is SW Pryor Road, SW Longview Road and SW Ward Road.
