Williams Grant Park Renovation

The renovation of the Williams Grant Park and SE 3rd Street and SE Howard Avenue is set to begin this winter. Improvements include playground equipment for kids ages 2 to 5, additional playground options for children ages 5 to 12, adaptive play and outdoor musical equipment, turf play resurfacing with play mounds, a shelter, park benches, and landscaping.

The new siren provides coverage for the downtown area and is capable of live and prerecorded voice messages in addition to the traditional storm siren.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 4:51 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 4300 Block of NE Walnut Ridge. An occupant in the house reported smoke coming from the roof and attic. When the fire department arrived, light smoke was visible from the attic and roof of a two-story, single-family residence.
