Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Rededication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Velie Park

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) Park Board members and staff held a special rededication ceremony on Thursday, September 8th, as they officially opened Velie Park after its renovation. Park Board President Lawrence Bivins was on site to cut the ribbon. 

The various improvements of Velie park included:

 • Solar-powered parking lot lighting

• Playground equipment for ages 2-5 with shade structure

• Playground equipment for ages 5-12

• Outdoor Fitness Area

• 28 ft. hexagonal shelter 

• Realignment and reconstruction of the existing park trail

• Park benches

• Planting of additional trees

Everyone wants to get back to celebrating Independence Day like we used to. However, if your celebration activities include fireworks, remember to use them responsibly and follow simple rules and safety guidelines.
