The Lee’s Summit City Council is pleased to announce the selection of Mark Dunning as the City of Lee’s Summit’s next city manager effective September 17, 2022. City Council gave unanimous approval to an initial reading of the employment agreement at the March 8 council meeting. A final vote will take place at the March 15 council meeting. Dunning will replace Stephen Arbo who will retire in September after 20 years with the City.

The City of Lee’s Summit’s Human Relations Commission is celebrating kindness in the community during its weeklong “Take Time to Be Kind” campaign, which runs from Feb. 13 - 19. Community members are encouraged to perform random and purposeful acts of kindness to promote positivity.

The calling party reported a fire upstairs with no one else in the house. Police dispatchers then received a call from an occupant still trapped in the house. The City of Lee’s Summit and LANE4 Property Group, the master developer for the Downtown Market Plaza, announce the selection of GLMV Architecture (GLMV) as the master architect for the redevelopment project located near Southeast Green Street and Southeast Third Street. As master architect, GLMV will be responsible for a preliminary design that supports the vision of the community and expands the character of the City’s award-winning downtown.
