Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Home in Lee's Summit

Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Home in Lee's Summit

A structure fire on Thursday, October 2, 2025, caused extensive damage to a home in the 100 block of NE Maple Street. The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded at 5:14 p.m. after multiple people driving by reported smoke coming from the roof vents of the residence. The occupant of the home also called 911 to report the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames visible from the back and roof of the single-story house. All occupants were safe outside, both required medical assessment.

Firefighters entered the building and were bringing the fire under control in the living area and rear of the house. However, the flames had spread to the attic, compromising the roof structure and forcing crews to transition to an exterior attack. After the fire was brought under control, crews re-entered the home for an extensive overhaul. Multiple remodels and additions created hidden spaces within the structure, making firefighting efforts difficult. The incident was under control by 6:54 p.m.

One occupant was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and their condition is currently unknown. Additionally, one firefighter was transported to the hospital, treated, and later released.

The fire resulted in extensive damage to the house. The cause is currently under investigation.
