Downtown Outdoor Voice Message Warning Siren Test on Friday, May 27
The Lee's Summit Fire Department will be testing the voice messaging capability of a new Outdoor Warning Siren behind Fire Headquarters on Friday, May 27, 2022, around Noon. The new siren provides coverage for the downtown area and is capable of live and prerecorded voice messages in addition to the traditional storm siren.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 4:51 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 4300 Block of NE Walnut Ridge. An occupant in the house reported smoke coming from the roof and attic.
When the fire department arrived, light smoke was visible from the attic and roof of a two-story, single-family residence. All of the occupants were safe outside.

City Places Public Safety Sales Tax on April 5 Ballot
On April 5, Lee's Summit voters will be asked to consider a half-cent public safety sales tax solely for the purpose of providing support for law enforcement, fire protection, emergency response and other public safety services. If approved, the City’s current sales tax rate would increase from 2.25% to 2.75%, and the total sales tax rate would increase from 7.85% to 8.35%.

Lee’s Summit City Hall and Municipal Court will be closed to the public on Thursday, March 10 in anticipation of inclement weather. The City’s Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. on March 10, will be held virtually.
