Lee’s Summit Accepting Community Development Block Grant Applications Beginning Jan. 4

The City of Lee’s Summit will begin accepting applications from qualified agencies for funding for the 2021-22 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program Jan. 4, 2021. The City receives annual grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to meet the needs of low-to-moderate income individuals and families, address slum or blight, and meet urgent needs.

Application information and forms will be available at cityofLS.net. Qualified agencies include public agencies and nonprofit organizations. For-profit organizations may also be eligible for consideration if the proposed programs or projects serve a public purpose and meet the national objectives, as well as the City’s CDBG Consolidated Plan objectives. Individuals are not eligible to apply. The program year begins July 1, 2021 and ends June 30, 2022.

Lee’s Summit is an Entitlement Community under the Community Development Block Grant program, which gives the City authority to administer the grant in our community. The City of Lee’s Summit was awarded $372,328 for the 2020-21 program year. The City’s 2021-22 grant funding has yet to be announced.

Applicants will present their proposals before the Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC). The public will be notified ahead of the public hearing, where they will have the opportunity to provide feedback prior to the CEDC recommending a funding allocation plan to City Council.

Applications should be submitted to cdbg@cityofLS.net no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2021. For questions regarding the application and/or eligibility requirements, please contact Development Services at 969-1200 or Sarah.Tilbury@cityofLS.net.
