Summit Ice Plans to Open Tuesday, November 3

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) is ecstatic to announce that Summit Ice is planning to open on Tuesday, November 3! Summit Ice will offer public skating, pond hockey and learn-to-skate classes and will again offer the warmth of fire pits and stand-alone heaters as well as a “Winter Wonderland” theme from the week of Thanksgiving through the New Year.

The opening date is weather dependent and if changed will be announced on SummitIce.net.

“Opening Summit Ice for winter enjoyment has been a priority for LSPR,” Joe Snook, LSPR Administrator, said. “Our staff has worked hard implementing protocols to address COVID-19 concerns. We ask for your cooperation by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and staying home if you don’t feel well.”

Due to COVID-19, patrons are encouraged to sign-up for public skate sessions in advance by going to LSParks.net and registering online. Sessions are one hour and 50 minutes long and 50 patrons per session will be allowed.

Summit Ice will follow social distancing guidelines set by the Jackson County Health Department. Masks are required by all individuals at Summit Ice who are not actively participating on the ice. LSPR will deep clean the facility and all equipment at the end of each day.

For Summit Ice registration times, inclement weather closures and more information, please go to SummitIce.net, or call 816-969-1500.
