Lee’s Summit Blood Drive to Help Those in Need

The City of Lee’s Summit, in partnership with the Community Blood Center, will host a blood drive on Monday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City’s Maintenance Facility located at 1971 SE Hamblen Road. Those who donate will be entered to win two Chiefs tickets. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. A single blood donation can save up to three lives. The Community Blood Center provides more than 90% of the blood used by hospitals in the Greater Kansas City area, eastern Kansas, and western Missouri, saving lives throughout the community. Donors can register at savealifenow.org/group using the group code KCJN. There are certain requirements to donate blood. The City of Lee’s Summit is excited to join communities statewide in celebrating Missouri Good Neighbor Week, Sept. 28 - Oct. 4. The annual event honors the spirit of community and encourages residents to strengthen relationships with neighbors. During Good Neighbor Week, citizens can get involved through various events and activities to foster community and goodwill. These may include: Neighborhood clean-up days. Block parties. Performing acts of kindness. Recognizing good neighbors. Being a good neighbor and developing relationships can have many health benefits including improved mental, physical and heart health, increased life expectancy and reduced loneliness. Everything Changes With a Dream Sculpture Selected for Downtown Lee’s Summit’s Green Street

The City of Lee’s Summit has chosen Everything Changes With a Dream as the gateway sculpture for Green Street, the new mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit. Lee’s Summit 2024 State of the City on August 16

Lee’s Summit Mayor Bill Baird will deliver the State of the City address on Aug. 16 at the Missouri Innovation Campus, 1101 NW Innovation Parkway. The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce is hosting the luncheon beginning at 11 a.m. with the mayor’s address scheduled to start at noon.
