Legacy Blast 2025

Get ready for a spectacular night! Join Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation and the City of Lee's Summit for a FREE fireworks extravaganza at Legacy Park on July 3! Starting at 6:00 p.m., enjoy a fun-filled evening with DJs, delicious food trucks, creative face painting, balloon artists, and exciting inflatables for the kids. Then, at 9:30 p.m., watch an amazing fireworks display perfectly choreographed to music broadcast on 94.9 KCMO. Don't miss out! Plan to arrive early, as park access will close at 9:00 p.m. or when parking reaches capacity.

    • Gates Open: 6:00 p.m.
    • Fireworks: 9:30 p.m. (synchronized to 94.9 KCMO)
  • Activities: DJs, food trucks, face painting, balloon artists, inflatables (for children 12 & under)
  • Important: Park access closes at 9:00 p.m. or when parking is full. Arrive early!

Navigating to Legacy Blast

  • Before the fireworks show, Blackwell will be closed at Colbern and at the roundabout to clear the roadway for the exit if necessary. Overflow traffic will be directed out of the area.     
  • Expect lengthy delays before and after the event in the areas of NE Colbern Road, NE Scruggs, NE Langsford, and NE Blackwell Parkway.  
  • Allow yourself plenty of time for your drive, and be patient and respectful!

What time will the show start?

  •  Around 9:30 p.m.

When will Legacy Park close?

  • The entrances to the park will close at 9:00 p.m. or when venues are full to allow for cars to get parked.  In the last few years, we have closed the gates by 8:30 p.m. as parking was already full.

Where will the show be shot off from?

  • J. Thomas Lovell Community Center
  • Once you park face your chairs towards the south of the park

How long will the show last?

  •  22 minutes

Why are grills, fireworks, and alcohol not allowed?

  • Legacy Blast is a family-friendly event and these items are not allowed for the safety of our patrons.

Is smoking allowed?

  • There is no tobacco use in the parks.

  • Yes, as long as they remain on a leash
