Section of Southwest Sampson Road Set to Close Wednesday, March 19

A section of Southwest Sampson Road between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads is set to close to thru traffic on Wednesday, March 19, and will remain closed until approximately mid-October 2025, for two phases of the Sampson Road Stormwater Improvements project.

Phase one includes culvert work just south of Southwest Scherer Road, and is expected to last until approximately the end of May 2025. The detour route includes Southwest Scherer Road, Southwest Ward Road, and Southwest Hook Road. All schedules are weather permitting and subject to change.

Phase two includes bridge replacement over Mouse Creek, and is expected to begin in mid-May and last until mid-October. Southwest Sampson Road between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads will remain closed to thru traffic during this work. A phase two closure map will be provided closer to the start date.

The Sampson Road Stormwater Improvements project will construct a bridge to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, restore and stabilize the natural stream channel, open the floodway to reduce backwater flooding upstream, install stormwater best management practices (BMPs),  and construct a Mouse Creek Trail crossing for the Parks Department to support the Greenway Master Plan.
