Public Meeting for Southeast Douglas Street Improvements Set for March 26

The City of Lee’s Summit will host an in-person public meeting for the design of the Southeast Douglas Street from Blue Parkway to Fourth Street Improvements project from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in the Strother Conference Room at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. The meeting will be an open house-style format and there will not be a formal presentation; the public can come and go as schedules allow. Project plans and exhibits, as well as tentative schedules for right-of-way acquisition and construction, will be available to view. This meeting will be attended by City staff and representatives from the project’s design engineering consultant Wilson & Company.

An online public meeting format also will be offered from March 26, through April 9, and can be found online at cityofLS.net/douglas-project. During this timeframe, the public will have the opportunity to review the same project plans and exhibits that will be available at the in-person meeting and submit comments or questions online.

The proposed Southeast Douglas Street project improvements include roadway reconstruction with curb and gutter; share the road bicycle facilities; on street parking (one side); continuous sidewalks along each side of the roadway; continuous street lighting; new enclosed storm drainage system; new waterline infrastructure; and associated utility relocations. The City anticipates these improvements will support the City’s Livable Street Policy and Greenway Master Plan. The project goals are improved safety, operations, and livability. The project was approved by voters with the passage of the April 2023 No Tax Increase General Obligation Bond issue for transportation purposes.
