Upcoming Traffic Changes for the Green Street Project

The Southeast Green Street entrance into the Lee’s Summit City Hall parking lot and garage is expected to reopen this afternoon Thursday, Sept. 26, and will remain open through the weekend for the Oktoberfest event. The Southeast Green Street entrance will close again on Monday, Sept. 30, and access to the City Hall parking lot and garage will once again be from the alley off of Southeast Second Street until approximately the end of November.

Also beginning Monday, Sept. 30, a traffic shift will be in place for eastbound traffic on Southeast Second Street from Southeast Green Street to Southeast Grand Avenue.

Looking ahead, a complete closure of Southeast Second Street from Southeast Green Street to Southeast Grand Avenue is anticipated Oct. 7-18. The detour route includes Southeast Grand Avenue, Southeast Third Street, and Southeast Douglas Street. A separate notification will be sent out regarding this closure.

All work is associated with the Green Street project. Schedules are weather permitting and subject to change.

Sections of Southeast Douglas and Southeast First streets are set to close daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, October 27, for utility work at the intersection. Work is permitted through November 7. The hard closures are on the south side of the intersection in the southbound lane of Southeast Douglas Street, and in the eastbound lane of Southeast First Street on either side of its intersection with Southeast Douglas Street.

A utility contractor is completing work along the south side of Southeast Second Street between Southeast Main Street and the alley behind the City Hall parking garage which will require the closure of sidewalk and two alleys, and the closure of Southeast Douglas Street at Southeast Second Street. A section of Southeast Fourth Street between Southeast Timbercreek Lane and Southeast Todd George Parkway is set to close on Monday, Oct. 27, until Wednesday, Nov. 5 (postponed from Monday, Oct. 23, through Monday, Nov. 3). The detour route includes Southeast Timbercreek Lane, Southeast Winburn Trail, and Southeast Todd George Parkway.

A section of Southeast Browning Street between Southeast Eighth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway was set to close on Thursday, Oct. 23 (postponed from Oct. 22). The work is necessary for water line work as part of the Route 291 north and U.S. 50 Interchange project. Also on Thursday, Oct. 23 (postponed from Oct. 22), Southeast Douglas Street north of Southeast Blue Parkway will reopen but Southeast Ninth Street will remain closed.

Northwest Colbern Road between Northwest Blue Parkway and Northeast Douglas Street is now open to traffic.

Please note there will be some ongoing work along the corridor, and Northwest Main Street at Northwest Colbern Road will remain closed for approximately one month.
