The City of Lee’s Summit will host an in-person public meeting for the design of the Southeast Douglas Street from Blue Parkway to Fourth Street Improvements project from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in the Strother Conference Room at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. A section of Southeast Browning Street between Southeast Eighth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway is set to close on Wednesday, March 11, until Monday, March 16. The work is necessary for concrete work as part of the Route 291 north and U.S. 50 Interchange project. The detour route includes Southeast Douglas Street, Southeast Seventh Street, Southeast Green Street, and Southeast Eighth Street.  

Northwest Olive and Northwest Orchards streets are set to close to through traffic beginning, Monday, March 2, until October 2026. Northwest Central Street and Northeast Main Street also will be closed to through traffic. These initial closures are to minimize traffic while crews begin tree clearing and utility work. Local access will be maintained.

The City has a small crew scheduled to report at 7 p.m. tonight, Sunday, March 1, to monitor conditions and treat streets with salt as needed Sunday night and overnight into Monday, March 2. READ MORE -->

A section of northbound Northeast Independence Avenue between Northeast Orchard Street and Northeast Columbus Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, for utility work. The detour route includes Northeast Orchard Street, Northeast Corder Avenue, and Northeast Columbus Street. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
