Section of SW 3rd Street Set to Close to Through Traffic Oct. 10

Update 2/28/23: Both eastbound and westbound lanes of SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street are now open to through traffic. Utility work continues primarily in the center/middle lane as the crew is still proofing the pipe and pulling cables through the duct bank. This work is anticipated to be complete in two weeks, weather permitting.

A section of SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street is set to close to through traffic beginning Mon., Oct. 10, 2022, through February 2023. Eastbound SW 3rd Street traffic will be detoured to SW Blue Parkway and westbound SW 3rd Street traffic will be detoured to SW 2nd Street. Local access will be maintained for SW 3rd Street business and property owners. All work is weather permitting and is subject to change.

This private utility work is necessary so an AT&T contractor can move a large duct bank prior to the construction of the 3rd Street Improvements Project - Blue Parkway to Jefferson Street, which is expected to start in early 2024. Sections of Southwest Oldham Parkway and Southwest Jefferson Street (in green on the map below) have been partially open, but will fully close again on Monday, Oct. 13, for approximately one month. The detour ties in with the existing detour for the closure of Southwest Oldham Parkway between Southwest Allendale Boulevard and the Southwest Oldham Parkway exit from Route 291.

A section of southbound Northeast Douglas Street between Northeast Orchard Street and Northeast Forest Avenue is set to close daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Friday, Oct. 10, and will last for approximately two weeks. The closure is necessary for the installation of a gas main.

A section of Southeast Cobey Creek Drive between Southeast Gillette Street and Southeast David Road is set to close on Wednesday, Oct. 1, and will remain closed for approximately a week and a half. The closure is necessary for stormwater work. The detour route includes Southeast Gillette Street, Southeast Corbin Drive, and Southeast David Road. Work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
