Northwest Colbern Road Improvements Project Traffic Changes Set for Friday, June 14

Update 6/13/24: These traffic changes are delayed until next Wednesday, June 19.

Phase one of the Northwest Colbern Road Improvements project is nearing completion, and phase two traffic changes are set to begin on Friday, June 14.

The section of Northwest Colbern Road from approximately Missouri Route 350 to east of the roundabout at NW Blue Parkway is set to reopen, and a section of Northwest Colbern Road between the roundabout and Northeast Douglas Street is set to close. Drivers will use Missouri Route 350 to access the west end of Northwest Colbern Road, and Northeast Douglas Street to access the east end of Northwest Colbern Road. The detour route remains Northeast Douglas Street, Interstate 470, and Missouri Route 350.

Northwest Blue Parkway between Interstate 470 and the roundabout at Northwest Colbern Road is also set to reopen on Friday, June 14.

Phase one project closures originally began on Sept. 5, 2023. Northwest Colbern Road from Missouri Route 350 to Northeast Douglas Street will remain closed to through traffic until spring 2025.

All schedules are weather permitting and are subject to change.

Public Invited to Comment on Douglas Street Improvements

The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting a public meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wed., April 19, in the Strother Conference Room on the first floor of City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee's Summit, Mo. 64063, to discuss infrastructure improvements for the Douglas Street corridor from Chipman Road to 2nd Street. City Crews Preparing for Snow This Weekend

The City’s crews are preparing for snow on Sat., Jan. 21, and overnight into Sun., Jan. 22. Crews are scheduled to report at 7 p.m. on Saturday to treat streets as needed and will continue to work overnight into Sunday. Snow accumulations for the Lee’s Summit area may be around one half inch, and the main concerns will be snow overwhelming pavements Saturday night and a re-freeze Sunday morning when temperatures drop below freezing.
