Lee's Summit Water Utilities issued a precautionary boil advisory on July 3 for customers in the Arbores Subdivision. Repairs to the water system in that area led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system. The loss of pressure may cause back pressure or back siphonage and carries with it a potential for contamination or other disease-causing organisms to enter the distribution system. These conditions may pose a risk of substantial health endangerment to persons served by the water system. The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce Mark Schaufler, director of Water Utilities, recently received the 2023 Missouri Section American Water Works Association Donald R. Boyd Water Utility Manager Award. This distinguished award recognizes exceptional managerial abilities with a community water supply. Schaufler has been a part of Water Utilities for nearly 30 years, 20 of which are in his current role as director. During his tenure, Schaufler has fostered a supportive and encouraging environment within the department by prioritizing customer services and employee engagement. He developed a customer advisory group, focused on gaining stakeholder support on water utility issues from financial policies to rates and other major initiatives. Lee’s Summit Water Utilities released the results of the 2022 Customer Survey which shows high overall satisfaction with the quality of water and sewer services.  A total of 629 residents completed the survey which was administered by ETC Institute in the spring of 2022. The Customer Survey was developed to objectively assess customer satisfaction with the delivery of water and sewer services and provide customers with an opportunity to provide open-ended feedback. The results found that a majority continue to be happy with the reliability of water service (94%), the reliability of sanitary sewer service (90%), clarity of drinking water (88%), smell of drinking water (87%) and variety of bill payment options available (86%).
