Slices of Heaven

Craig Berube-Gray

Slices of Heaven

Having grown up in the northeast and then moving to Florida as an adult, Gray was surprised to discover, as far as he could tell, that no one in Florida had ever rendered oranges in a giant, sculptural form. The bounty of the earth inspires slices of Heaven and it symbolizes blooming flowers and the rising sun.

Craig Gray’s approach to making public art includes weaving stories and community connections. In the past four years, he has created and placed over 35 sculptures across the United States. The locations read like a long-haul trucker’s logbook: Clearwater, FL; Johnson City, TN; Woodstock, VA; Chicago, IL; Jackson, WY; Newport Beach, CA; and now Lawrence, KS.
