  |   Categories: Fire Department News

Spring cleanup season is here — but burning leaves and other yard waste is prohibited within Lee's Summit city limits. Fire pits, patio fireplaces, and other open-flame appliances may not be used to burn yard waste. Those appliances may be used only with seasoned firewood. Open burning of vegetation is allowed only in areas zoned for agriculture and meeting the distance requirements, with a permit from the fire department.

Residents should mulch or bag leaves for pickup by their designated waste hauler. To prevent stormwater backups, leaves should not be raked or blown into storm drains.
