Divisions

The Lee's Summit Fire Department takes pride in serving the Lee's Summit community. Staff stands ready to provide the highest level of service in any type of emergency. To best accomplish this task, the department is divided into the following eight divisions:

  • Administration - The Administration Division provides leadership, strategic direction, and management of department resources. This division ensures the smooth functioning of all services, manages budgets, and develops policies to meet the evolving needs of our community.
  • Communications Center - Our Communications Center is the critical link between the public and emergency responders. Operating 24/7, our team answers 911 calls, coordinates emergency responses, and dispatches fire, medical, and rescue units swiftly and efficiently. The center serves as the focus for all city communications, other than police communications. The center also provides communication services on a contractual basis to the Southern Jackson County, Lone Jack, Fort Osage and Sni-Valley Fire Protection Districts. The center also serves as the Region A communication center for 13 counties during statewide disasters.
  • Emergency Management - The Emergency Management Division is tasked with preparing the community for natural and man-made disasters. Through risk assessment, community outreach, and coordination with local agencies, this division enhances our ability to mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
  • Emergency Services (Operations) - The Operations Division is the backbone of our fire department, responsible for emergency response to fires, medical, rescues, hazardous material incidents, and more. Firefighters in this division are on the front lines, ready to respond at a moment’s notice, safeguarding lives and property.
  • EMS - Our Emergency Medical Services Division provides life-saving care and advanced medical support to those in need. Trained paramedics and EMTs respond to a wide range of medical emergencies, delivering critical pre-hospital care and ensuring the well-being of our community.
  • Fire Prevention - Fire Prevention focuses on proactive measures to reduce the risk of fires in the community. Through building inspections, code enforcement, fire investigations, and public education, this division promotes fire safety and aims to prevent incidents before they occur.
  • Support Services - The Support Services Division handles logistics, fleet maintenance, equipment procurement, and facility management to ensure our firefighters and emergency personnel are always equipped with the tools they need to perform their duties effectively and safely.
  • Training - The Training Division is dedicated to ensuring our personnel are well-prepared for any situation. Through continuous education, simulations, and certification programs, our firefighters, paramedics, and other staff remain skilled and ready to respond to evolving challenges in fire and emergency medical services.
