A structure fire on Thursday, October 2, 2025, caused extensive damage to a home in the 100 block of NE Maple Street. The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded at 5:14 p.m. after multiple people driving by reported smoke coming from the roof vents of the residence. The occupant of the home also called 911 to report the fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames visible from the back and roof of the single-story house. All occupants were safe outside, both required medical assessment.
Firefighters entered the building and were bringing the fire under control in the living area and rear of the house. However, the flames had spread to the attic, compromising the roof structure and forcing crews to transition to an exterior attack.
