LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Strasbourg Apartments, located at 3 NW O'Brien Road, on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 6:33 p.m.
A resident reported smoke filling their ground-floor apartment but no visible flames. A neighboring occupant noted a "pop" sound and the power going out before smelling smoke. The callers evacuated the building.
When firefighters arrived, nothing was visible from the outside of the three-story garden apartment. Inside, smoke alarms were sounding, and light smoke was present. Firefighters located the fire burning in the wall separating the two ground-floor apartments, as well as in the ceiling and utility spaces of the floor above.
