Section of Northeast Independence Avenue Set to Close Monday, November 3

Update 12/5/25: This section of Northeast Independence Avenue had reopened, but will close again on Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 9-10) of next week for pavement work.
A section of Northeast Independence Avenue between Northeast Orchard and Southeast Second streets is set to close on Monday, November 3, for approximately five weeks (extended from three weeks). The hard closure is between Southeast Second Street and 209 NE Independence Avenue. The detour route includes Northeast Orchard Street, Northeast Grand Avenue, and Southeast Second Street.

This sewer work is associated with the West Prairie Lee Sewer Capacity Study, Upgrade and Construction project. This project consists of improvements to the West Prairie Lee Interceptor to address existing and future sewer capacity constraints. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
