The City’s crews completed snow operations early afternoon today, Mon., Jan. 22, after pavement temperatures rose above freezing and pavements were mostly wet. Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing for the rest of the week, and any remaining snow and ice pack should continue melting.

The City’s crews are treating streets today, Monday, Jan. 22, after freezing rain impacted the Lee’s Summit area. Additional crews were called in early this morning, and primary streets are completed. Crews are currently working in secondary streets. Streets are slick and drivers should use caution. Pavement temperatures are expected to warm above freezing after 10 a.m.

The City has a crew scheduled to treat streets with salt as needed beginning at 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, due to the forecast for freezing rain. Residual salt remains on streets from treatment the last two weeks; however, streets are still expected to get slick as the temperature falls and freezing rain starts. A flash freeze is possible tonight for any wet pavements or surfaces as temperatures fall, and drivers should use caution especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. The City’s crews are treating streets today, Tuesday, Jan. 16. Crews will continue working until all primary, secondary and residential streets have been treated. The extremely cold temperatures will limit the effectiveness of salt and streets may remain snow packed and slick; however, the sun and warming temperatures through Wednesday, Jan. 17, should help with melting. Drivers should continue to use caution.
