Section of Pryor Road Set to Open Friday, June 19

Section of Pryor Road Set to Open Friday, June 19

The section of Pryor Road between Longview and Scherer roads is expected to open to traffic by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, June 19. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction, and it will remain an active construction zone with workers present so drivers should use caution. The posted detour will remain Longview, Ward, and Hook roads. The intersection of Pryor and Scherer roads will be a three-way stop.

The opening of Pryor Road south of Scherer Road to Eagle Creek Drive is delayed until July, due to utility conflicts.

Improvements to the Pryor and Longview intersection are complete, and work along Scherer Road is complete. Improvements to the Pryor and Hook intersection are expected to begin later this summer. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2027.

City Crews Treating Primary Streets this Morning

The City’s crews are treating primary streets this morning, Wednesday, March 5. Streets were slushy overnight but froze quickly earlier this morning. Crews will move into secondary streets if necessary, and will continue treating streets until pavement temperatures rise above freezing and melting occurs. Drivers should use caution especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

City Crews Preparing for Possible Blizzard Conditions Overnight

The City's crews are scheduled to report at 10 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, March 4, to treat primary and secondary streets. Blizzard conditions are possible overnight due to the forecast for heavy snow and high winds. Snow accumulations should remain low as pavement temperatures are expected to remain above freezing until approximately 3 a.m., but streets will become slick.

City Crews Completed Plowing and Treating Residential Streets Today, Thursday, February 20

The City’s crews completed plowing and treating residential streets this afternoon, Thursday, February 20. The sun helped with some melting today, but refreezing is likely overnight into tomorrow, Friday, February 21. Cold temperatures continue to limit the effectiveness of salt and snow remains packed to pavements even after being plowed and treated. Sunshine and warmer temperatures over the weekend will help with additional melting.
