City Crews Continue to Plow and Treat Streets

The City’s crews have been working for several days to dig out after one of the largest snow storms on record. Crews were completing residential streets this morning, and are working to widen lanes and turn lanes on primary and secondary streets. Due to the amount of snow and cold temperatures, crews will begin working through residential streets for a second time to attempt to clean up snow left behind after streets were plowed and treated. With more snow in the forecast for tonight, crews may have to return to primary streets overnight.

Ice and snow pack remaining on streets is melting during the day and creating slushy conditions. A second plowing and treating of residential streets will help; however, streets are still expected to have some ice and snow pack due to cold temperatures and refreezing overnight. Windrows along side streets, intersections, sidewalk ramps and driveways should be expected with continued plowing.

We are urging resident to move vehicles from streets if possible. Vehicles parked on streets significantly slow progress and impact how much snow can be plowed from streets. Our crews thank you for your help and patience.

The City is continuing to monitor the forecast for the next round of snow and will update its response accordingly.
