Daily Closures of Section of SE Third Street Set to Begin Wed., Feb. 14

A section of SE Third Street between SE Douglas and SE Green streets as well as nearby alleys are set to close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily beginning Wed., Feb. 14. The closures will start on the south side and then switch to the north side and will last for approximately one month. The closures will affect traffic, parking and alley access on the side of the street in which the contractor is working.

Beginning Wed., Feb. 14, the eastbound lane of SE Third Street between SE Douglas and SE Green streets and a section of the alley between SE 3rd and SE 4th streets will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for approximately two weeks. The westbound lane will remain open.

Then the traffic will switch and the westbound lane of SE Third Street between SE Douglas and SE Green streets and a section of the alley between SE Second and SE Third streets will close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for approximately two weeks. The eastbound lane will remain open.

The contractor will reopen the street, parking and alley each evening and plate the work area appropriately for traffic until they are closed each morning for work activities. The detour routes include SE Douglas Street, SE Second Street, and SE Green Street. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. This is utility work by a contractor for Spire and is associated with the Downtown Market Plaza project.

City Crews Continue to Treat Roadways Today, Nov. 30

The City’s crews continue to treat roadways today, Saturday, Nov. 30 after a heavy band of snow pushed through the area later this morning leaving heavier snow on the north side of the City and a trace on the south side. Crews will work north to south to treat roadways covered in snow. Pavement temperatures are expected to be above freezing through the remainder of the day helping to melt any accumulated snow on the roadways.

City Crews Scheduled to Treat Streets as Needed

The City has a crew scheduled to report at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 to monitor conditions and treat roadways and bridges throughout the morning into the afternoon as needed due to the potential for a dusting to one inch of snow. Pavement temperatures should be above freezing in the afternoon and limit accumulation. Drivers should be cautious, especially on elevated bridges and overpasses.

A section of Northwest Falk Drive between Northwest Village Drive and Northwest Ward Road closed today, Tuesday, November, 19, and will remain closed until the afternoon on Friday, November 22. The closure is necessary for the replacement of rusted corrugated metal storm pipe that is causing sinkholes in the road. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
