Section of Northeast Independence Avenue Set to Close Monday, November 3

A section of Northeast Independence Avenue between Northeast Orchard and Southeast Second streets is set to close on Monday, November 3, for approximately three weeks. The hard closure is between Southeast Second Street and 209 NE Independence Avenue. The detour route includes Northeast Orchard Street, Northeast Grand Avenue, and Southeast Second Street.

This sewer work is associated with the West Prairie Lee Sewer Capacity Study, Upgrade and Construction project. This project consists of improvements to the West Prairie Lee Interceptor to address existing and future sewer capacity constraints. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.

The City’s crews continue plowing and treating streets tonight, Wednesday, February 12. Primary streets are nearly complete. Crews will continue working in secondary streets overnight into Thursday, February 13, and then will move into residential streets.
