Reminding everyone the open burning of yard waste is prohibited. Including burning leaves in portable patio fireplaces or pits.

Due to the ongoing drought conditions, all open burning permits issued in the City of Lee's Summit remain suspended, and it is not recommended to use any other outdoor open-flame appliances.

On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 4:56 p.m., the Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2600 Block of NW Bent Tree Circle. The occupant called 911 and reported a fire in the kitchen. When the fire department arrived, light smoke was visible from a two-story, single-family residence. The occupant was safe outside. LEE'S SUMMIT, MO— On Wednesday, September 28 at 11:00 AM., the City of Lee's Summit will test ALL Outdoor Warning Sirens and the Voice Message System to evaluate recent upgrades, weather permitting.

The City will test the system again next week on the regularly scheduled first Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM, weather permitting.
