Lee’s Summit Accepting Comments on Capital Improvements

Public comments are currently being accepted through May 17 for the City of Lee’s Summit’s Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), which outlines anticipated infrastructure improvements for the next five years. Individuals wishing to view the plan and comment should visit http://bit.ly/CIPLS.  

The 2022-2026 CIP totals $359,037,000, which includes funding from prior years. Every project in the plan has been considered for its financial feasibility, environmental impact, conformance to previously adopted plans, priorities established from the citizen input process and ability to meet the public need. New projects in the CIP Plan include improvements to the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport, the replacement of Fire Station No. 5, Southwest Scherer Road reconstruction, Velie Park renovations and several stormwater, water and sewer projects.

Public comments close at midnight on May 17. In addition to submitting comments online, individuals will have the ability to comment at a public hearing scheduled for the Planning Commission meeting on May 20.
