Tree Limbs and Brush Disposal after Storms on March 6 *Updated 3/9/17*

Update: The Eastern Jackson County Yard Waste Collection Center at 37910 E. Pink Hill Road, Oak Grove, Mo., is offering free yard waste disposal until March 19. Hours have also been extended from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Mon-Fri and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sat-Sun. Be prepared to show a valid driver’s license as proof of Jackson County residency. Across our community residents are reporting downed tree limbs and brush after the storm that swept through the metropolitan area overnight on Mon., March 6.

 

The City does not pick up tree limbs or brush unless it rises to the level of a community-wide disaster, such as with the 1984 and 2002 ice storms. While this storm did not reach that level for Lee’s Summit, residents are reminded of private resources for disposing of tree limbs and brush:

Voy Spears Elementary 5th Graders Stencil Storm Drains

In partnership with the City of Lee’s Summit, the 5th Grade students from Voy Spears Elementary School, located at 201 NE Anderson Drive, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, embarked on a large scale project in October to stencil the storm drains in the Oaks Ridge Meadows subdivision, located in the northern portion of Lee’s Summit along Anderson Drive.  

Lee's Summit Reactivates Storm Drain Stenciling Program!

Educating the community about the importance of keeping our water clean and free of pollutants harmful to humans and the environment is at the heart of the City’s Storm Drain Stenciling Program being reactivated by the City on Sat., Aug. 13.

RecycleFEST

An event offered by the City of Lee's Summit twice a year as a way to celebrate Earth Day in the Spring and America Recycles Day in the Fall.  Residents can bring various unusual items to recycle at the event for FREE.
