Downtown Sculpture Walk

The City of Lee’s Summit thrives on our Arts, Culture and Heritage. In 2020 the Downtown Sculpture Walk was established to make art accessible to our citizens and visitors. The annual outdoor public art program features vibrant and unique three-dimensional artworks showcased within the public spaces in the downtown area. A jury of community members chooses the artworks created by acclaimed public artists from across the country and the region. These artworks are meant to inspire, entertain and educate while providing additional aesthetic elements to the public space. Sculptures are displayed on loan to the City for one year.

Tim Adams uses his artwork to express his love of nature. In this artwork, Adams is using the shapes and colors of nature he has seen and experienced to create something new. Oxbow refers to Oxbow Wetlands, which are flows of water that become separated from streams, rivers, or creaks. They store excess water that could lead to flooding and they also help filter water to improve water quality and provide habitat for a variety of wildlife.

Adams works with weathered steel and aluminum to create vibrant works that mimic movement and reflect light. His career allows him to research and understand nature, as a Landscape Architect and Certified Nursery professional his passion is engrained and displayed within his work.
