City applies for Bicycle Friendly Community Designation

The Livable Streets Planning Committee of Lee’s Summit 360˚: Charting Tomorrow submitted an application for Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) designation to the League of American Bicyclists. The application and designation indicate Lee’s Summit’s efforts to create a bicycling culture in the community. The League of American Bicyclists will review the application to determine whether or not the City should receive a BFC designation as a bronze, silver, gold or platinum award

City Participates in Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday

The City of Lee’s Summit has announced that certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items are exempt from sales taxes from Friday, Aug. 6 - Sunday, Aug. 8. The sales tax holiday applies to state and local sales taxes for local jurisdictions that chose to participate in the holiday. The City of Lee’s Summit began participating the sales tax holiday in August 2007.
