Mayor's Message

During the holidays, we are often reminded of the importance of giving back. Although the holidays have passed, it is not too late to give back.  There are many great causes in need of assistance in our community and throughout the metropolitan area that can use your service year-round. Our citizens have always impressed me with their generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand and offer support whenever necessary. It is just one of the reasons I am grateful for and extremely proud of our citizens.

City Continues to Plow and Treat Streets while Preparing for Wintery Blast on Sunday

The City’s Public Works Operations crews are plowing slush and treating streets in residential areas after the City received another blast from Old Man Winter, ranging from flurries to heavy snowfalls, throughout the day on Friday, Feb. 5.
Additionally, crews are preparing for another storm event forecasted to hit the metropolitan area Sunday, Feb. 7.

 

The City of Lee’s Summit Moves Towards Full Utilization of e-Procurement System

The City has been utilizing an e-procurement system called Onvia DemandStar for the past eight years to notify suppliers electronically of bid opportunities.  Additionally, the City has listed bid opportunities on the City’s Web site (cityofls.net) and mailed bid notification postcards to suppliers who were on the City’s “Vendor List” for specific goods and services.

City’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Rebroadcast on Government Access Channel & Web site

If you missed the City’s 13th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on January 18, you can view rebroadcasts of the program on the government access channel on Comcast, channel 7; Time Warner, channel 2; and AT&T U-verse, channel 99 weekly on the following days and times:

FREE Tax Preparation Assistance for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

City of Lee’s Summit residents eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can receive free tax preparation services beginning January 26, 2010.  EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families.
