Keep Cool When It's Hot

Admission fees into Legacy Park, Gamber and Harris Park Community Centers will be reduced to half price on all days the National Weather Service issues Excessive Heat Warnings for the months June, July and August. During business hours, Mid-Continent Libraries are also good cooling centers. Call United Way 2-1-1 for assistance or information about public cooling centers.

A Community for All Ages is a program that recognizes communities that have taken steps to become more welcoming to residents of all ages and, in the process, are more vibrant, healthy and prosperous.  Lee’s Summit can earn one of three levels of recognition representing the extent of work in becoming a Community for All Ages: Bronze, Silver or Gold.

Recognition for each level requires a community to complete tasks that require time from elected officials, staff and citizen engagement.  Some tasks might be achievable through already existing processes and programs.

What’s next? We would like to invite the community to our first Community for All Ages public meeting on June 27th at 5:00 p.m. during a regular Planning Commission meeting.  Learn more about the program through guest speakers Cathy Boyer-Shesol, MPA Project Manager for KC Communities for All Ages – MARC; City of Raymore Assistant City Manager/Community Development Director Jim Cadoret; and, City of Raymore Planning Associate David Gress.  Let’s find out what it takes to go through the three-tiered recognition program that will eventually lead our City to be rewarded to the highest level!
